ABOUT MEI am Joseph "Tom"
Riach, born in Aberdeen in Scotland and educated at the city's Grammar School (as was Lord
Byron). I set up
my first business venture in the city at just twenty-three years of age. The ensuing years
were exciting
ones and featured distinct phases.
Early years were a time of great endeavour,
long hours, high hopes, some naivety and disappointment - and a bank account in a permanent
state of cardiac arrest! But they were also (like my schooldays) a happy time, filled with
great camaraderie and endless hilarity!
I believe however that the business arena
is a field in which only the most resolute of tryers will prevail, and after some years my
perseverance began to pay. I became a top-earning award-winning Salesperson and Marketing
Professional and I coined the term 'Creative Solutions' Specialist to describe my work in
devising and implementing new approaches to troublesome situations in commerce and industry.
From these successes I then developed my own group of small companies.
By later years I had realised that sheer sweat and toil did not represent the smartest or
swiftest routes to success. Entrepreneurs, I observed, had always existed able to
create fortunes from little apparent effort and I became increasingly fascinated by this
phenomena. During the eighties I set out to emulate this approach and such was my
success that by 1996 I could 'retire' to the tranquility and calm of South West France
specifically to write about this, and about my experience and my beliefs.
Inevitably for
a man of energy, once there I accepted business advisory work and I set up a personal and
business mentoring service.
In 2002 I moved again, this time to the Algarve where I
continues with my writing and various works - now including a golf holiday business,
and I have done significant marketing work for major companies in the
leisure and tourism industry.
I'm always available to consider good quality sales,
marketing, business advisory or interim management commissions worldwide not-with-standing
current commitments.
